Portland (Oregon) Opera's Brown Bag Series -- March 2007
Edited on Tue Feb-27-07 12:08 AM by Radio_Lady

PORTLAND OPERA’S BROWN BAG SERIES CONTINUES

“Would you like an aria with those fries?”

FREE TO THE PUBLIC!

Bring your lunch and enjoy an inside look at Portland Opera’s next production—Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman

WHAT: Portland Opera’s “Would You Like an Aria with Those Fries?” Lunchtime Presentation
WHEN: Noon to 1:00pm, Friday, March 2, 2007
WHERE: Multnomah County Central Library (801 SW 10th Ave) in the U.S. Bank room

The third offering in Portland Opera’s season of Truth and Transformation is Richard Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman. Last performed at Portland Opera in 1994, The Flying Dutchman is definitely the stuff of legends—a ghostly seaman doomed to sail the seas forever; a woman bent on saving him, and music as wild and powerful as the sea itself.

Guaranteed to be a riveting theatrical experience, The Flying Dutchman will be presented as Wagner intended…without intermission. It will take audiences on a wild ride to the very edge, from its familiar opening notes to the final shocking conclusion.

Portland Opera’s Chorus Master Robert Ainsley and Director of Music and Education Sara Jane Patterson will give the March presentation that includes insights about the concept of this particular production and musical highlights from The Flying Dutchman.

These ongoing lunch presentations are held at Multnomah County Central Library from 12:00pm to 1:00pm on the first Friday of each month.

For more information about the opera, which will be on stage in late March, please go to: http://www.portlandopera.org or call the Box Office -- 503-241-1802.

1. When I lived in Portland, I had the GREATEST season ticket--
Second balcony, front row and nearly dead center.

It (and Tri-Met) were the two things I most hated to give when I moved to Minneapolis.
