Films to be shown:

Amsterdam Biking (5 min): Amsterdam has created a bicycle-friendly city that promotes a healthier, more active lifestyle. With people meeting face to face instead of bumper to bumper, the city challenges us to rethink our car-centered lives in the United States.

Oil and Water (34 min): Two kayakers embark on an endless summer-style 35,000 km road trip from Alaska to Argentina in a retro-outfitted Japanese fire truck without a single drop of petroleum. They converted their regular diesel engine to run on everything from pig lard to palm pulp and they traveled for 9 months in pursuit of the best whitewater in the Americas. The pair coordinated with schools, local governments, farmers, agricultural research centers and media to conduct demonstrations advocating for the use of alternative energy all along the way. Best Environmental Film, Taos MountainFilm, Everest Award Recipient for Advocacy.

Ridge Boys (14 min): A group of young locals fight valiantly to slow the construction of a dam that would destroy their river valley. When a homeland security task force closes in on their remote hideout, they must disappear into the vast wilderness or face incarceration. But when the leader of the group must double back to secure an important document incriminating their allies, the flight from Freeman's Crossing begins.

Wombat (1 min): Listen to this little wombat. He has our future in mind.

Intermission, raffle and speakers (20 minutes)

Hybrid Pedal (28 min): Environmentalists and road bikers make a thousand-mile ride from Portland, Oregon, to Salt Lake City, Utah, to draw attention to endangered wildlands in the Western United States. Along the way, riders rode through seven threatened areas and discussed the issues of each place with representatives from grassroots groups seeking to keep them wild.

Gimme Green (27 min): Lawns are undeniably an American symbol. But what do they really symbolize? Pride and prosperity? Or waste and conformity? Gimme Green is a humorous look at the American obsession with the residential lawn and the effects it has on our environment, our wallets and our outlook on life. From the limitless subdivisions of Florida to sod farms in the arid southwest, Gimme Green peers behind the curtain of the $40-billion industry that fuels our nation's largest irrigated crop-the lawn. College Television Award, Academy of Television Arts and Sciences; Best Documentary Short, Beverly Hills Shorts Festival; Best Documentary Short, Phoenix FF; plus more.

I Love Mountains (8 min): 450 mountains blown up ... 1,000 streams buried ... 1 million acres flattened. Just southwest of our nation's capital, one of the greatest human rights and environmental tragedies in American history is taking place right now. In this short film the organization, Appalachian Voices illustrates how mountaintop mining is erasing some of the most beautiful and oldest landscapes in the United States. The realities of our country's energy addiction is also apparent in the faces of the communities affected by this horrific practice

Down the Copper River (5 min): Join musician and raft captain David Grimes on a short float down the world renowned Copper River in south-central Alaska. See the salmon, glaciers, bears and eagles and learn about threats to this majestic watershed.

Water Loving Doggies (5 min): There are places in this world and moments in time when PARADISE does exist ... join some furry friends down on the Yuba River.
