Progressive radio in Eugene

KOPT AM1600 (which has been broadcasting Stephanie Miller, Thom Hartmann, Ed Schultz, Randy Rhodes, etc.) was acquired by Oregon Public Broadcasting, and as of tomorrow at 3:00 p.m., they will stop progressive talk programming and will start with OPB programming. Does anyone know if the Air America folks have found another station in Eugene? I've been looking, but haven't found anything.

1. The sad loss of radio hit Medford in January, too

They mentioned in the newspaper last summer that KEZX AM730 had been sold, and this January it went to Fox sports, fulltime, and oh how I miss it! i'm down to the internet, and i've had good luck with 620 KPOJ, it's got Hartmann live, 9AM to noon, and a free podcast in 1 hour increments for past shows: and Ed Schultz from noon to 3, no podcast there { but available from his site at $6/mo.), then Randi, Rachel,and Mike Malloy- that's weekdays, the weekend has it's own mix, Miller is in it. And of course there's Air America online, and a host of stations and programs ( ever caught Radio For Peace International?, it's a shortwave broadcast from Costa Rica, and they have an office in Oregon, they play Democracy Now, and Maryknoll, and Flashpoints, and some Indian stuff and spiritual stuff on a loop that repeats a couple of times a day and isn't on all the time) Anyway, I hope you can get around the media blockade on progressive talk somehow, best of luck and more power to you.- Doug

Sorry you lost your station too. I started listening to 620 KPOJ over the internet also, but I miss having the radio in the car. I don't mind the OPB programming and actually do listen to it sometimes, but I just can't believe that a town like Eugene couldn't support a progressive talk radio station.

3. It's no accident

All the "progressive" stations in Ohio were bought out and switched , San Diego lost it's station, and the KPFK signal from L.A. is blocked with a classical station on the same frequency some Republicans started up in Mexico, just across the border.
There's plenty of maneuvering to muffle the left. I used to turn up Ed Schultz at work and guys would come over and say "who IS that?", they thought talk radio meant Rush-and-clones, period!

4. Can you get KBOO on 100.7 from Corvallis?
