1. Heard he had big money backing him
Heard that several months ago. DeFazio is running against Obama and Pelosi, harping on the deficit, promising more logging, running hard for those rural voters. Sounds more like a Blue Dog than a progressive. Hope it works for him.

2. Rep. DeFazio takes Art Robinson very seriously...
Seems the big corporate types are backing Robinson with lots and lots of money. Folks in the 4th District need to check out the real Art--and there's a website to do that: www.whoisartrobinson.com. Check out his opinions on Social Security, Medicare, public education (calls it "child abuse", among other things), and a lot of other issues, including nuclear waste. Art says it's best used in the foundations of our homes, that it should be sprinkled all over the country, and oh, yes, radioactive water from California should be used to "enhance" drinking water in Oregon. He seems to feel that suitably dilated, radiation would make us stronger and hermetically enhance resistance to degenerative diseases, as well as prolong lives. Lots of other words out of Art's mouth that are simply astounding. Read 'em and weep.

Wish I lived in the 4th so I could vote for Peter.

3. I don't think any of that is getting out
Peter is too busy trashing Obama and Pelosi to go after this nutball. At least so far. Maybe I'll make up my own flier and put it on the windshields of some of these Art Robinson vehicles running all over the place. They don't have bumper stickers - they've got magnetic door signs, huge ones. And he's got support from some of the biggest business owners in town. It's embarrassing really.

4. I haven't seen any polls.
Defazio's running a pretty shitty campaign. I've seen lots of Robinson signs too, in fact, the only Defazio sign I remember seeing is at a Democratic election office. On the other hand, Robinson's completely fucking insane. Like, Christine O'Donnell insane. So Defazio's got that going for him.

8. DeFazio signs in my yard and all over my neighborhood
And his campaign has helped draw national attention to the infusion of shady cash from out of state donors, our district all over Maddow and all. Plus, he's 16 points ahead. So he's going to win while helping to influence the national dialog. By what possible measure is that 'shitty'?

9. I think DeFazio's OK. SurveyUSA Poll out today though shows Schrader in trouble in OR-05...
He was in a tossup but is now down ten points to Scott Bruun (51%-41%) according to SurveyUSA. I've heard talk from local Democratic Party people here too that his race is what concerns them most in the House. He probably could use some help from us...

http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2010/House/house_polls.html

The close DeFazio poll listed here was from February, before some of the controversial stuff that DeFazio exposed with Robinson and his supporters. I'm guessing he's OK now, but still wouldn't hurt to send him a few bucks to counteract the big money thrown against him.
