1. The fact that the gas company has

said it is not gas, and the fire department has said nothing, I am guessing meth lab or other explosives. I could be wrong, but usually if it were a gas explosion, it would be announced by now, people would be evacuated, and gas would be shut off.

2. I hate to say it

But "meth lab" was my first guess, too. I hadn't even thought about basic explosives, but I guess that's a possibility as well.

My wife and young son were outside at the time, several blocks away, and she said that the explosion was incredibly loud and shook the porch.

I wonder how this will develop...

3. The Gas

Co. said there were no workers in the area and no reports of leaks, they didn't rule it out. The first to respond to the emergency said there was a heavy odor of natural gas. I would think they'd have jumped all over any indications or signs of a meth lab.

Thankfully no one was killed.

* on edit: sorry, apparently the updated info says that the gas company says it's not their problem. scary stuff. if it has anything to do with a methlab i can't understand any delay in reporting it. as far away as the debris spread, you'd think they'd want folks to beware.
