Local Attorney Files Class-Action Suit Over Tainted Pet Food

"We have filed a class action on behalf of all Pennsylvania residents against Menu Foods," said Pittsburgh attorney Rob Pierce.

Peirce represents a Lawrence County family who said their cat became sick after eating one of the recalled foods.

"Fortunately, the pet is recovering, but it has been an emotional experience for them, and they have incurred approximately $5,000 in medical bills," said Pierce.

He warns pet owners who are trying to recoup the cost of treating their pet to keep the pet food.

"If they've gone to a veterinarian, keep those bills," said Peirce. "Speak with the veterinarian, letting them know that the veterinarian may need to issue a report demonstrating that the animal did in fact become sick from eating this contaminated food."
