PA Supreme Court Candidate Runs Slumlord Business from his Judge's Chambers
http://www.philly.com/philly/wires/ap/news/state/pennsylvania/20070429_ap_newspaperjudgeoverseesdilapidatedpropertiesfromchambers.html

Sunday's Philadelphia Inquirer has a front page article about a PA Supreme Court candidate, Willis Berry, who owns many dilapidated buildings in Philadelphia. He made up fake people to own the buildings (not corporations). He runs the business out of his city court judge's chambers, in violation of the law. He acquired one apt. building about 12 years ago with the condition that it be rehabilitated within one year. It still sits decaying.

Berry is a Dem, but we have to hold ScumDems just as accountable as scummy Repubs.

1. the rumor...
is that this guy is running just because the Philly Democratic organization wants to run a token black candidate to split the vote from Darnell Jones. The Philly Democratic vote makes up a huge chunk of the statewide primary, and a strong showing for Jones could bounce out either McCaffery or Todd...and they don't want it to be McCaffery.

I'm voting for McCaffery (because I know him, and he's a decent guy with an interesting background) and Jones (because he's enormously qualified)...and I want more Philadelphians in Harrisburg in general. I know nothing about Todd.

2. That happens so often
I didn't know that. Unfortunately, that happens so often in Philadelphia - they recruit a Latino or African-American candidate for the sole purpose of splitting their opponents' votes.
