Meet Maggie, the dog the Rendells rescued from a puppy mill

Good for the Governor & Midge Rendell!


It's a much better dog's life - now - for Maggie, the golden retriever who until last month was living in a Lancaster County rabbit hutch. Now Maggie, who's 2-1/2 years old, is enjoying the 30,000-square-foot Governor's Mansion, a car-and-driver, picnics and parties, and weekends at the Shore. She's the third rescue dog adopted by Gov. and Midge Rendell, who championed animal welfare by trying to improve conditions in commercial kennels. Above, the Rendells relax with Maggie, right, and Ginger, age 5-1/2, who's been with the Rendells for four years. They were in Judge Rendell's 21st-floor offices at the Byrne Federal Court House at Sixth and Market Streets here in Philadelphia.
