March 22 Registration Deadline:; Voter ID Needed for 1st Time
March 22nd is the deadline to register to vote, or to change your party affiliation. They can each be done through the mail or in person at the County voter office.

"Do I need to present identification to vote?

All first time voters, including those who are voting in a new precinct for the first time, will be required to present identification.

These acceptable forms include:

A valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
A valid identification card issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or United States government, including the Armed Services.
A valid passport.
A valid student or employee identification card.
Non-photo forms of identification such as a paycheck, utility bill, current bank statement or documents issued by the Commonwealth or United States government that show the address of the voter."

1. Question: I read that there was a push to let 17 year olds who will
be 18 before the General Election vote in Pennsylvania's Primary. Has anything come of that, or do you still have to be 18 before the primary date?

2. Some people will have to take the day off at work
In order to get their license or photo ID. Sometimes it takes longer than you think to get online and wait for your turn in order to receive this kind of documents. I don't understand why the urgency.

4. very few will
Very few will need to do this, as the vast majority of voters have drivers licenses, state ids or passports already. In addition, the rules allow for light or gas bills or other mail with the voters address.

And these rules only apply to first time voters.

Its a pretty minimal requirement, to try and minimize ineligible individuals.

5. Do you know the deadline to get an absentee ballot - useful for us working the polls that day.
Since we may be assigned to work elsewhere than our own polling place.

7. A valid voter reg. card (which will be mailed to you after you register) works FINE for 1st Time.

Showing a valid voter registration card IS acceptable ID for first time voters. It has the address and other required info, and is 'government issued'.
