Specter's cancer back; seeks re-election in 2010
http://www.mcall.com/news/nationworld/state/all-a3_specter.6363785apr16,0,670463.story

snip> The five-term Republican said in a statement released by his office Tuesday that he was diagnosed with an early recurrence of Hodgkin's disease, a cancer of the lymph system.

snip> Specter, 78, underwent treatment for the same type of cancer in 2005 and was later given a clean bill of health. The statement said the cancer was revealed in a medical scan but that he has no symptoms.

snip> He's already announced he will run for re-election in 2010, and he said the cancer won't stop him.

Cancer is a terrible disease and I wish Sen. Specter well.
I also hope we can find a candidate to defeat him in 2010.

1. Matthews is running for senate in 2010
Chris Matthews has been rumored for sometime as planning on running for Specter's seat in 2010. Colbert asked him about it a couple days ago, and Matthews said he always wanted to be a senator. That sure sounded like he intends to run.

2. Isn't tweety a registered repuke?
So... he's gonna try to take the repuke nomination from Specter? Wasn't Lynn Swann's running mate Matthew's brother?
Have you heard of any Dems interested in running? It might be a prime time to have two Democratic senators.
