Pa. GOP wants Libertarian off presidential ballot
More whining from the Republicans. I hope Barr takes 10% off McCain :-).

HARRISBURG -- A Republican leader is trying to get Libertarian Party presidential candidate Bob Barr knocked off the Pennsylvania ballot.

Victor Stabile is a Harrisburg lawyer and Cumberland County chairman of the GOP.

Mr. Stabile says the Libertarians misled people who signed their ballot petitions because a Clarion County woman was listed as the presidential candidate for weeks after the national party picked Bob Barr at its convention in May.

Mr. Barr is a former Republican congressman from Georgia who some Republicans say could hurt presumptive GOP nominee John McCain in the general election. Mr. Barr's name was substituted on the Pennsylvania ballot just last week.

Pennsylvania Libertarian Chairman Mik Robertson says the party listed a stand-in candidate when it started gathering signatures in February because there wasn't a nominee at the time.

1. Re:
Give 'em hell Bob! :) Typical, they rejoice when Nader gets on the ballot but when a libertarian gets on there, they whine about it.

2. Welcome to DU angryfirelord!
:hi: I wonder how much of the vote Barr will take from McCain....and how many write-ins Ron Paul will get. I've seen more Ron Paul yard signs around my area than McCain's.

3. Thanks!
:) Although I believe McCain has sown the seeds of his own defeat. His shift from the center to the far right in combination with sharing Bush's policies has pissed off a lot of conservatives. Regardless of what the poll numbers say, McCain can't win unless Obama somehow screws up really bad. I think a lot of Republicans are going to vote for someone else or just stay home.

Ron Paul's pretty cool though. I don't like his free market policies, but his desire to end American Imperialism and getting rid of the Federal Reserve are pluses in my book. Oh well, we'll let the conservatives figure out which one to pick.
