and don't cost the campaign any money! Tape them to the inside of your car and house windows.
Especially effective in urban areas. Entire blocks with Obama signs in virtually every window would look super.
A couple of years back, I suggested this to a statewide candidate who had limited financial resources. I'm not good at that kind of computer graphics, so I couldn't do it for him. He never followed up on the idea, got only a few yard signs out before the primary, and most people walked into the voting booth never having even SEEN his name. Needless to say he was crushed at the polls.
In our case it's no longer to get name recognition, but instead to build the bandwagon effect.
I'll be using them because I can't keep a yard sign from being ripped out of my lawn for more than a day or two. I'm targeted because of my previous homemade signs against T-Ricky Santorum and because I have such a good location for visibility. With these signs, they can steal them as much as they want. I'll just hang out another the next day. I'm going to use the standard yard sign frame, drive it deep so it's hard to get out. I'll print out two signs, staple them back to back over the middle of the frame. Then I'll coat the rest of the frame with a thick layer of vaseline. The vaseline, being clear, won't be seen, so when they try to pull out the frame they'll get it all over their hands. I learned that trick from a college practical joker who was putting vaseline on the handles of the unrinals in our dorm. When we found out who was doing it, he was well taken care of. When you're at a urinal or stealing a yard sign, you're usually in a hurry and aren't looking that closely! Once they find out my trick, I'll probably have to work on a Plan B.
Additionally, I'll be putting them in my windows.
I'm printing a Yinzer for Obama sign now.
Great job.
