Talk host Lynn Cullen returning to radio

Long-time local talk host Lynn Cullen is returning to the airwaves.

Starting Monday, she'll host a two-hour talk show on WAMO-AM (860) Mondays through Fridays from 5 to 7 p.m.

... I got an e-mail from her (probably from the list of folks who e-mailed the other station).

Interesting that it's an R&B format, with some talk, all black host format, classy Pittsburgian thing that I never listened to. As low as the dial is, I'll probably stream it from Monroeville.

I'm very encouraged. I was listening to the stream tonight. I also mailed everybody I could. I need to get a bumper sticker.

Could you pm me a copy of what Lynn sent? She told me a couple of months ago at Pittsburgh Pundits show she was talking to WAMO. I'm glad they picked her up. I get the station in my car better than I got 1360.

Glad to see on PG site that Lynn's return was 4th most emailed story of the day! I can't wait till Monday.

Ms. Cullen will be the afternoon drive-time lead-in to nationally syndicated talk host Bev Smith's nightly show, which starts at 7 p.m.

Ms. Cullen said she's thrilled to be back. Being off the radio "through such historic times has been a long, silent ordeal for me," she said. Her last day on the air was the day Sen. John McCain announced that Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska would be his running mate in the 2008 presidential election. "I missed all of that and the election. If I ever wanted to be on the air, it was exactly the six months I was pulled."

Ms. Cullen's fan base has been very vocal during her absence. Some have been actively lobbying other stations to get her back on the air.

Ms. Cullen said she's glad to be bringing a liberal point of view back to a conservative-heavy talk market. She's looking forward to reconnecting with her former listeners, and with new ones. "It's a great opportunity for my regular audience, and for WAMO's audience, who have not been able to (hear) local talk."

I am so glad she is coming back. It's a shame she missed the run up to the election, etc. but we need her voice more than ever now :-).
