Sheridan Broadcasting Sells WAMO-Lynn Cullen out of job again?
A Pittsburgh institution will soon be gone.

Sheridan Broadcasting announced it's selling its three Pittsburgh radio stations, including flagships WAMO-AM and WAMO-FM, the city's only urban radio stations.

Pending approval, the stations will be sold to a religious organization which plans to change formats.

About 35 full and part-time employees.

Damn! I was wondering why she wasn't on today.

1. Rats
The front page article made me so sick and angry that I couldn't even look at the rest of the paper.

I'm pissed.

I'm sick and tired of these religious radio stations.

Is there really all this demand ????????

2. Oh no. Not again.
WAMO is a legend. I remember listening to WAMO-AM in the 60's......

Lynn will turn up with something else. This is a shame.

3. I doubt Lynn will get another gig in Pittsburgh
unless KDKA would get sold. There were rumors last year, but nothing this year. I love to see all the blowhards over there except for Chris Moore get fired.

5. Lynn's comments in the PG
Ms. Cullen's fans -- who were still celebrating her recent return to the airwaves -- are in the cold again. The longtime talk host's tenure at WAMO was short: She went on the air March 1, after a six-month absence from the airwaves.

"We were just starting to get some traction" in terms of rebuilding an audience, Ms. Cullen said yesterday. "It was totally a shock to everybody."

Last August, she lost her show on former talk station WPTT-AM, which switched to a money-and-finance format.

"It's getting absurd with me," Ms. Cullen noted. "Now you see her. Now you don't." She said she is considering retiring from radio, because the options here are shrinking and she's committed to staying in Pittsburgh.

6. Is this the economic downturn? No, this is bullshit
"Steve Harvey in the morning, Bev Smith at night" is still on, due to syndication, I suppose, but this is getting ridiculous for smothering the format on only certain local talk.

If it doesn't represent the right wing nut base, it's out, I guess. What? They don't sell foot powder to liberal progressive listeners?

Bullshit! Bullshit! Bullshit!

I don't blame Lynn for just hanging it up. But, I'm still betting she won't.

Sorry, WAMO, you triiiiieeeeddd to do your best, but you could not.

7. Harvey & Smith will be gone off Pittsburgh airwaves too
Edited on Tue May-26-09 05:42 PM by RamboLiberal
as soon as the format change occurs. Don't know how long that will be.

I think Lynn will be forced into retirement cause there's no other talk radio outlets in Pittsburgh willing to employ a liberal.

The idiot station manager over at KDKA claims liberal talk doesn't sell. Yeah to his listeners. Listening to KDKA callers I'd be embarrassed by the low intellect and racist dumbshit attitudes of most of them.
