Mary Beth Buchanan eyes taking on Altmire

U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan is pondering a run for Congress to challenge Democrat Rep. Jason Altmire next fall.

Ms. Buchanan, a Republican and appointee of former President George W. Bush, has been considering a run for at least a month, Allegheny County Republican Party Chairman Jim Roddey said yesterday.

She did not return several messages left seeking comment. Ms. Buchanan is in Washington, D.C., this week.

Mr. Roddey said he has met with her, and Ms. Buchanan is consulting with state and national Republican leaders to gauge support and her chances against the second-term Democrat from McCandless.

My m-i-l loves Jason Altmire. She's 83 years old and active in her AARP group. I doubt Buchanan has a chance.

I don't see Buchanan doing any better against him, either. Jason is doing a pretty good job for his constituents, I think he's good for another couple of terms at least.

3. Yes he did! My m-i-l has met Cong. Altmire several times

as she is his constituent and he shows up at her AARP group periodically. Buchanan will not be a serious challenger if he has the Senior vote :-).
