Specter opposes troop increase in Afghanistan!

Hey all,

Here's a link to a good article on Kos talking about Senator Specter's interview regarding the
proposed Afghan surge.

I oppose sending 40,000 of our troops into Afghanistan with no "exit strategy" or objective
achievable goals! Hopefully Senator Levin's amendment will pass and we can instead focus
on an international effort to train security forces. This appears to be the direction
Specter and Levin are going, while Rep. Joe Sestak is for a measured increase.

Happy Thanksgiving! This holiday, one reason im Thankful is that Snarlin Arlen spoke up
on this, hopefully we can begin to end this Afghanistan mission and in a successful manner!

Here is a money quote from Murtha from the Tribune Review article inserted:

It costs $1 billion for every 1,000-troop increase in Afghanistan, a country whose rugged geography and lack of infrastructure make it difficult to maintain supply lines, Murtha said.

"What if it doesn't work? Are you going to ask for 100,000? Are you going to ask for 200,000?" Murtha said. "We can't win it militarily"

This is from the Head of the Defense Appropriations Committee, John Murtha. Kudos to you Arlen Specter.
