As Democrats, we need to be what the Republican party is not. The big tent party and it is important both
for Pennsylvania and to President Obama that we elect Sen. Specter to keep fighting for Pennsylvanians,
(as opposed to someone who's made scurrilous allegations that he was offered a job by the White House).

We will be successful in the Fall only by coming together. That said, and as the Pittsburgh Post Gazette
and Philadelphia Inquirer recently concluded, Senator Specter is our most qualified and viable candidate.

Arlen Specter came to Washington to fight for the working men and women of Pennsylvania -- and he has a distinguished record of doing just that.

He cast a deciding vote in favor of the Recovery Act that brought our economy back from the brink and created more than 120,000 jobs in Pennsylvania in just the first three months of this year.

He fought hard for health insurance reform, and because of that victory 1.3 million uninsured Pennsylvanians will now have access to affordable care -- including more than 140,000 with pre-existing conditions.

And he's been a champion of Wall Street reform and combating climate change, two crucial parts of my agenda that won't happen without Arlen's support.

But now, he needs your help. He's in a tight race for the Democratic nomination for Senate, and the primary is coming up soon on May 18th.

1. I just cannot support him, and wonder why anyone could...

It's not just the way his previous staff members would hang up on you after expressing your views (after trying to ask questions in a professional way)...

It's not recalling how he handled Anita Hill during the Clarence Thomas hearings, something that surprised more than a few persons...

It's not recalling that it was Arlen Specter's magic "single bullet theory" that the Warren Commission accepted, while leaving testimony to the contrary out of that Commission's report (which the House Select Committee was not willing to swallow some years later).

No... I just think Arlen Specter has had his chance to stand with the American people and he's forgotten about them entirely too much. It's not like he hasn't known the right thing to do, but only the thing that would re-elect him.

I think we've had quite enough of that. I'm willing to give someone else a chance.
