Arlen Specter on Arlen Specter: I'm proud to be a Democrat and return to the party of my roots.
Arlen Specter (4-28-09):
"As the Republican Party has moved farther and farther to the right, I have found myself increasingly at odds with the Republican philosophy and more in line with the philosophy of the Democratic Party."

Arlen Specter (2-8-10) as he accepted the endorsement of the PA Democratic State Committee 229-72:
"I’m very proud to have been received to the party of my roots, very proud to be a Democrat, very proud to have a record of supporting the values of the Democratic Party as an independent voice in the senate for 30 years,”

In the meantime, Sestak is NO lifelong Democrat either, and Sestak absolutely is NOT PROGRESSIVE. Don't be fooled by this real Democrat hype. If anything Sestak is more moderate and right-leaning than Arlen Specter. And he can't speak in public... watch the debate from last week. Ouch. I can see Toomey mopping the floor with Joe Sestak. He won't with Arlen Specter.

1. Specter supports a flat tax and elimination of the estate tax
since when are those progressive principles?

3. I know that he has never let PA down in the 30 years he has served this state.
You could always count on him to fight for PA jobs and the working man. He has given his life to PA and it is a shame that a man with a grudge against the party and with nothing to run on except being an admiral in the Navy and a Democrat for four years can fools some people by bomb barding them with ads attacking Specter.
But, this is not over, and it may be close, and I still think Specter is going to win this. It will all depend how many of his supporters we can get to the polls. There are only so many progressives in the state and they are hoping for a low turn out. At this point, I am thinking it is going to be a a lot bigger turnout then his unworthy opponent's supporters think.

4. Specter seems typical of some willing to take a party line to save his position-
.. and less typical of someone who will move to do what is right, regardless of party division.

Tell me this... does he stand for auditing the Fed?

Then, there's that single bullet theory as a junior senator that tarnished his credibility. Stand for Pennsylvania, or stand for his last run? I say it's the latter.
