Detailed List of Pennsylvania State Funding Cuts for Each School District
Edited on Fri Mar-11-11 07:23 PM by JPZenger
The following is a list of the 5 major sources of funding provided by the state for public schools, showing the proposed cuts between the next year and this year. This list is more comprehensive than earlier lists that were released, because it lists more types of program cuts.

Earlier reports only looked at the basic subsidy, not the other eliminated programs. Earlier news reports said the worst cuts would be 10%, but this shows many would be 15%.

For example, Allentown School District is proposed to have a $15.5 million cut from last year. That is a 16% cut.

Of course, there also is inflation from last year, particularly for health insurance and fuel, so the same dollars cannot go as far.

The list is in alphabetical order for each county, and then each district in the county. You can download it, which may make it easier to read. Also, if you right click for view image, it should then let you zoom in. You can also do a word search for the name of your district.

This list was NOT provided by the administration, but instead had to be calculated and assembled by Democratic officials.

1. The Pittsburgh Post Gazette has s similar list.
What is striking is how severely some school districts will be hit. Is that Corbett's plan? To force the worst hit districts to be privatized?
