Great Analysis of PA. House Republican's Proposed State Budget

It restores about half of the cuts to higher education, a fraction of the cuts to K to 12 education, but cuts many human service and health care programs to make up the difference. Both the House Republicans and the Governor refuse to use any of the State's newly received $504 million surplus in tax revenues to reduce the severity of the cuts.

1. This is the way to destroy a state in the long term to save a few bucks
today. Cuts in education will surely affect this state for years to come. Cut out the proven ways to lift children up and keep them on track educationally, and you will see the problems in the future when these children become adults. But I guess we don't have to worry about that---the cuts to crucial public welfare and medical assistance will mean many of these kids will not make it that far.
