FBI and DA Seize Financial Records of Township, after Supervisor Taken Away in Handcuffs

The continuing saga of Middle Smithfield Township, Monroe County in the Poconos of PA.

The latest news is that the FBI and the District Attorney seized financial records of the Township.

One of the Supervisors, Spano (R-of course), was taken away in handcuffs last week for illegally voting for a strip club on his own property, in a conflict of interest. He was arrested during a Township meeting in front of 75 cheering people and a TV crew. He had repeatedly conspired over 2 years to weaken Township regulations to make it easier to build that strip club.

He had fired a long-time bookkeeper for the Township and replaced her with his girlfriend.

Spano is also under investigation by the FBI for federal fraud charges for listing his girlfriend as his wife on papers that made her eligible for health insurance from the Township, before he got her hired by the Township. He was married to someone else at the time.
