You can help by participating in the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, with collections taking place in some 60 Giant Eagle food stores in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Lawrence, Washington & Westmoreland counties, & even a few stores in Erie and Morgantown, W VA.

Local Giant Eagle Stores

New hunger reports show that more than 20% of kids in southwestern PA - 1 out of 5 - don't get enough to eat to live an active healthy life!

Fall FoodShare is the largest food and fund drive of the fall. Please purchase a few most-needed grocery items at participating Giant Eagle stores, make a cash donation at the register, or donate online through the virtual drive, and help make sure local kids get enough to eat all year long.

Back for its 12th year, Giant Eagle, People's Natural Gas, Girl Scouts of the USA, Cintas, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, WDVE, Del Monte Foods, 3WS, KISS, the "X", Comcast and other sponsors team up with the Food Bank to kick off the food drive season.

Fall FoodShare includes about 60 Giant Eagle stores throughout western Pennsylvania (and a few stores in Erie and Morgantown, WV) - all food and funds donated stay in the county where the donation was made!

Fall FoodShare is a little longer than usual this year, because the need continues to increase in this economy. This Food Bank is serving an average of 3,500 NEW households every month.

But it also means we need more volunteers than ever! Please sign up, and if possible bring your family, friends, troop, civic club, etc along!

Volunteers hand out shopping lists to customers and help pack food. Sign up to volunteer right now. (You can choose your store and your shift!)

Our Clear Channel radio partners will be out at some Giant Eagles on the weekends. Schedule TBA.

2. I didn't know about it either, but heard from friends in St. Louis and Madison WI

where their grocery store chains were co-operating with local food banks to collect food. So I called Giant Eagle corporate headquarters & found out about this terrific program. I like the idea of designating a dollar amount of credit through the store, so that the food banks can use that for the items they're low on.

3. My Giant Eagle is participating, and I like being able to donate

right at the register. That way, I don't have to try to figure out what they need. They can just use the money and get what's most important at the time.
