Sandusky Case Was Sent to Corbett to be Handled in March 2009!

According to the attached link, the Centre County District Attorney forwarded the Sandusky case for handling by Attorney General Corbett in MARCH 2009 - 2.5 years before Sandusky was finally arrested. This was after a mother went to authorities.

(The District Attorney forwarded responsibility for the case to the AG because of a conflict of interest.)

According to one source mentioned din the article, at one point, the only person handling the case for the State was one State Police investigator. I guess Tom was a little distracted with political fundraisers.

I still theorize that it is significant that the case took off and was expanded when a new female AG took over in JANUARY 2011. Generally, women are much less willing to look the other way on these types of cases, even if it threatens a powerful good ol' boy network.

The following brand new article from the Harrisburg paper includes many details that were not reported elsewhere, including the fact that the number of investigators working on the case was dramatically increased in JANUARY 2011. It also lists the many mistakes in the State's investigation, including waiting 2.5 years to search Sandusky's house - giving him plenty of time to destroy evidence.

1. Sandusky stepped down from Second Mile operations in the fall of 2008
and told the organization then that it was because he was under investigation.

2. Corbett Gave Sandusky 2 Years to Destroy Evidence
http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2011/11/special_report_why_the_jerry_s.html

Excerpts from a good recent article in the Harrisburg Patriot-News:

"When The Patriot-News broke the story of the investigation in March of this year, officials from the Clinton County school district where Sandusky had allegedly spent time with Victim One had still not been subpoenaed. Penn State Coach Joe Paterno, Athletic Director Tim Curley and Vice President Gary Schultz did not testify before the grand jury until February 2011. Second Mile CEO Jack Raykovitz testified in April 2011.

Investigators never asked the lead detective in the Ray Gricar case for the prosecutor’s files. Gricar’s former staff members were not interviewed until after March 2011.

And Jerry Sandusky’s home was not searched until this summer — two and half years after the investigation began.

“Assuming Sandusky was aware, for a few years, of the investigation, then he would have had plenty of time to destroy potentially incriminating evidence,” said Beth Karas, a former prosecutor, and current correspondent for "In Session" on the truTV network. Karas said she also can’t think of a reason why they wouldn’t warn The Second Mile about the investigation much earlier."

3. Someone (Corbett) has some questions to answer
Guess he was busy running for Governor and courting his Marcellus Shale Gas buddies.

4. Corbett's first priority was to get his political opponent fired
It is interesting that when the charges finally were filed against Sandusky 2.5 years after Corbett was told to investigate, Corbett's first priority was to jump on the phone with other Trustees to get Penn State Presiden Spanier fired.

Spanier had been the most vocal opponent of Corbett's attempt to cut all state funding to all state universities by 50%.

6. This quote really makes you wonder:
“If they were taking the allegation seriously, and of course they were, then it seems the children of Second Mile should be of paramount concern,” she said. “At a minimum, I would think they inquired of Second Mile about Sandusky’s role there, as of the time the investigation began, and whether he had contact with children.”

It seems like NO ONE tried to keep the man away from children.
