Before Hubby and I moved back to my home state of Virginia, I signed up to receive "The Guv's" online newsletter. As some of you know, I worked on his campaign during the primary and into the general election in the Harrisburg office, and in Cumberland County. Keeping track of Governor Rendell's accomplishments is also a big help, in the event we come back to Pennsylvania to work on his reelection!
Anyway, this week's is a "goodie". Check out what he has to say about this week's Eagles and Steelers games!
Here's some snippets . . . and a link at the bottom to the newsletter.

GOVERNOR’S ECONOMIC STIMULUS PLAN TAKES HOLD -– HISTORIC NEW INVESTMENT IN 14 NEW PROJECTS WILL CREATE NEW JOBS FOR PENNSYLVANIANS
1/21/2005 - With help from the Commonwealth, Washington County will be converting a 221-acre brownfield site in Cecil Township to an entertainment destination with attractions including restaurants and marketplaces that is expected to bring hundreds of new jobs to the area. This is just one of the 14 newly-approved Business in Our Sites (BOS) projects that Governor Rendell announced this week. The projects will create shovel-ready sites for businesses through land acquisition, construction and feasibility studies.
“This program gives Pennsylvania communities the ability to attract businesses by providing the necessary resources to prepare vacant sites for development,” Governor Rendell said. “Having land that is ready to accommodate these new and growing businesses is the key to attracting jobs and investment to a community. It also provides an economic development strategy that communities can build upon.”
Business in Our Sites is part of the Governor’s Economic Stimulus Plan. Some 30 projects have received more than $75 million since Business in Our Sites started last fall.

PLAYOFF SUNDAY – PENNSYLVANIA STYLE
1/21/2005 - Never before have two NFL conference playoff games been held in the same state -- but Sunday will be a first when the "Pennsylvania" Philadelphia Eagles host the Atlanta Falcons and the "Pennsylvania" Pittsburgh Steelers host the New England Patriots. Governor Rendell – who, by the way, is batting .1000 on predictions—told a standing-room-only press conference this week that he thinks it will be an all-Pennsylvania Super Bowl in Jacksonville in two weeks. The Governor said that in addition to bringing out the best in Pennsylvania football fans, the success of the teams is a boost to tourism and economic development efforts. The governor, who has been an Eagles season ticket holder for more than 30 years, will attend the game in Philly and will be rooting for the Steelers from there. GO EAGLES! GO STEELERS!
