Senator Arlen Specter diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease
http://www.pittsburghpostgazette.com/pg/05047/458542.stm

"Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) announced this evening that he has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease, a cancer of the lymph system.
<snip>

A follow up PET scan and MRI at the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania on February 16th established that Specter has stage IVB Hodgkin's disease.

Specter said he expects to receive ABVD chemotherapy every two weeks over the next 24 to 32 weeks at the Abramson Cancer Center.
<snip>

Specter said he intends to perform all duties of his office including those related to the chairmanship of the Judiciary Committee."

I wish him the best of luck. He's been through a lot with his health.

1. I think of him as a real Republican...
before the Neo-cons took over, Republicans were pretty well-balanced people.

I wish him well.

2. Do I agree with him on his stances of late? No.
But I do wish him nothng but the best in his battle with this disease. No matter the politics. They are immaterial in this.

Can you imagine if the shoe were on the other foot?? When Clinton went in for heart surgery, the repugs were ferociously happy!! And weren't shy about saying it out loud!!

Sick, sick people.

I, too, wish Specter the best.

12. He's pro choice, isn't he? Or at least spoke out
against Bush ramming anti-choice judges through Judiciary.

15. And the AFL-CIO endorsed his reelection last year
They wouldn't have done that if he voted anti-labor most of the time.

7. You may disagree with me, but
Arlen is one of my favorites in the Senate, period. Why? Probably because he's not a lying slimy bastard like Frist, and that automatically bumps any Republican up on to my bests list.

Good luck to him.

He's got a chance. My uncle has lived with leukemia for over 20 years. He's now in his mid-80s

16. I wish him well....
He has always been a moderate voice in the Senate, but as late he and the other moderate Republicans have been phased out or browbeaten into following along with the rest of the bleating conservative sheep. I fear that if he has to leave due to this the Bushites will take full advantage and place one of their zealots on the Judiciary committee, then God help us all.
