After months of delay blamed on Beltway politics, the U.S. Senate yesterday unanimously confirmed the White House appointment of Chester County Court Judge Juan R. Sanchez to a seat on the federal bench.
"It's a great feeling," Sanchez said of the confirmation seven months after his nomination by President Bush. The vote in his favor was 98-0.
Sanchez, 48, breathed a sigh of relief and embraced colleagues after watching the midafternoon vote from his chambers in the county courthouse in West Chester.
He had tuned in to the proceedings via the C-SPAN Web site.
