Chaffee's terrible fundraising numbers
Edited on Mon Oct-17-05 04:14 PM by safi0
Got this via politics1. In the last quarter Chaffee was 4th of the 4 top candidates. Even, his primary opponent Jim Laffey who's getting no party support raised almost 100K more than him. I think he's probably the only incumbent who has less money than his topp opponent as Whitehouse has 1.4 million compared to Chaffee's 1.28

1. THANK YOU for bringing attention to this!
I honestly hope that Chafee is beaten in the Re-PUKE primary, which will pave the way for probably the only way for Dems to retake this seat, as much as I hate to admit it.

Let's keep our fingers crossed!

2. I think that
Sheldon Whitehouse can beat him. The last poll with some credibility on this race showed Chaffee up 41-36, which as an incumbent in a very blue state is huge cause for worry. For me the ideal situation would've been this Laffey guy running as an independent. He could've attracted 10-15% leaving Whtehouse/Brown with an easy victory.

3. I'd love to think that Sheldon can beat him...
but I don't count my chickens until they're hatched, so I leave it to my Rhode Island brothers and sisters to bring this one home for us. I'm staying out of it until I see a victory like we unexpectedly saw in NH.

4. We have two
Good Democrats running, and both would make great US Senators. So my suggestion is for all RI DU'ers and all of there friends go register Republican and vote for Mayor Laffey.

5. Good advice!

I mean, clearly, some Dems (depending on how many Independents RI has) must be voting Republican to explain how they could have an idiot like Carcieri in the governor's mansion, so... it shouldn't be much of a stretch to get them and go ahead to register that way long enough to actually help a Dem where it counts. RI tends to be Dem when it comes to federal elections, now if only they could make a clean blue sweep for their congressional delegation, and knock out the lone Republican, even if he is no doubt the most progressive Senate Republican, as Republicans go...

Blue is better!!
