Do you ever see Patrick Kennedy seeking higher office one day?
Today in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette I was reading a column in the editorial section about The Kennedy and Bush families and although it only briefly talked about Patrick, here's what it said: "Patrick, is a congressman from Rhode Island but is unlikely to reach the top of the greasy pole of politics." After that it got me thinking, will Patrick Kennedy ever seek a higher office one day? Now it's obviously it's going to be The Senate and he repeately said that he won't challenge the seat if a Democrat controls it. So people of Rhode Island what do you think?

I think if ever decides to run he'll be a strong candidate and have a good chance of winning cause politics is Patrick life, being born in a political family, the youngest man ever elected to the State Legisture(21) and was 27 when he became a Congressman.

1. I'm not from RI
But I was at a recent meeting of college demcoratic leaders and I had lunch with Adam Roach the president of the Providence College Dems and we talked about lots of political issues. Being from WI, we talked a little about Feingold in 08, and eventually the topic turned to the RI Senate race. Some of his answers kind of surprised me. He told me that Langevin is actually the more popular of RI's 2 Congressman and while Langevin would've beaten Chaffee fairly easily, Kennedy probably would've won in today's political climate but would've been far from a shoo-in. Kennedy is now on the appropriations committee and most people don't see him leaving the House anytime soon.

To answer your question, the feeling I got from Adam was that Kennedy may run for a higher office, but 2006 was probably the best opportunity he'll ever have.

2. I don't know about Langevin....
If he could win a statewide race cause it depends, how big is Rhode Island on abortion? cause Langevin could alienate voters with his pro-life views and the narrow minded people in the state could possible look to him as a weak candidate cause of his disability.

As for Kennedy, your right 2006 was his year and he's already said that he won't run for The Senate if the seats are controlled by Democrats(so challengeing Jack Reed in the primaries in 2008 is out.)Of course I could see him staying in the House cause he's on the most powerful committee in the House, the Appropriations Committee, that's where all the money and pork barrel projects. I just want to see him in a higher office one day cause he's a Kennedy and it would be cool to serve in the same office as his father.

3. Langevin's
Disability is actually a plus politically because many people look at him as someone who has overcome a lot of adversity in his life. As far as the abortion issue, RI only has 2 CD's so he represents half the state and he's never gotten less than 62% in each of his elections.
