Within the next three weeks or so, every Rhode Island household will receive a booklet with information on how to prepare for a bioterrorist attack or another emergency.
And lest the brochure end up on the junk-mail heap, Boy Scouts from the Narragansett Council will be posted outside Shaw's, Stop & Shop and Dave's Marketplace supermarkets this weekend, handing out cards urging people to read, keep and heed the booklet.
Titled "Make a Kit. Make a Plan. Stay Informed," the blue-covered, 29-page publication was produced by the state Department of Health with $200,000 in bioterrorism money from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
It describes what you need to have on hand to sustain you and your family for three days, the differing responses to biological, chemical and radiological attacks, what local authorities are doing now to prepare for emergencies, and how to cope with the emotional stress of disasters.
