Black Hills activists about a year ago were very exercised about the threat to democracy from monopoly media. Friends, you were SO RIGHT, as an upcoming film offering by the Rapid City P&J Chapter makes clear.

On March 7, the Rapid City P&J Chapter will show The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, a MAGNIFICENT Irish documentary about the 2002 right wing attempt to overthrow the Chavez government in Venezuela. Perhaps the film's most important contribution to the history of this incident is its expose' of the role in the coup played by Venezuela’s media monopoly.

One media distortion was cited repeatedly as "gospel" in the US media, and is still alluded to by US pundits who have been cooperating with the Bush Administration project of discrediting the Chavez government. That media lie was a charge that Chavez snipers fired on anti-government demonstrators. Not so, the Irish film demonstrates.
