As you all know, President Ronald Reagan died on Saturday, June 5, at his home in California. I have issued a public request to all Tennesseans to observe a moment of silence to honor his death that will correspond with the National Funeral service on Friday, June 11th at 11:30 a.m. Eastern Time / 10:30 a.m. Central Time. Ronald Reagan stood very tall as President and he cast a very long shadow on the American and World landscapes. He will be remembered as the Great Communicator and revered for his love of this country and of democracy. The Office of the President is one of great service to our nation. As we participate in this National Day of Mourning, I encourage all state employees to honor the nation’s loss through our service to the citizens of Tennessee. Each of us holds a position of great importance to the people we serve. I hope that you will join all Tennesseans in observance of this solemn moment to honor the passing of an American President.
- "cast a very long shadow" Excellent! The letter comes across neutral enough to not get him in any trouble, but his opinion is still visible. :)
