Any chance Rosalind Kurita might run against Lamar Alexander?
Since Harold Ford is almost certain to get the '06 Senate nomination (to compete for Frist's vacancy)....could Rosalind Kurita's primary run in 2006 become a way for her to build name recognition, and challege Lamar Alexander when he's up for reelection in 2008?

Or is Alexander pretty much unbeatable?

1. That would solve my dilema of who to support. !!!
Ford now, Kurita later. I don't know why Alexander would be unbeatable except for maybe name recognition. Of all my Senators & Reps, he's the only one who makes no effort to acknowledge constituent feedback - not even so much as a thoughtless form letter.

Not to mention, he's recently been building a nice history of Senate votes that we'll be able to use against him. Alexander may have been sincere and idealistic at one time (plaid shirts, walk across the state), but he's way to comfy with and dependent upon power and money now. It didn't take long for DC Repugs to mold him into one of their's.

2. So you think Alexander could be beatable...???
Do you think TN Democrats will target him in '08, or let him win in a walk?

3. I would love that!
Than I could have two democratic senators! I haven't heard if he's up or not either.

4. Do you mean up in the polls?....???
Because Alexander is definitely up for reelection in '08.

6. You never hear anything from him anymore
 I almost forget about him being there he's so quiet. Frist at least lets you know he got your letter even if it is copying and pasting stuff. I do give him that much and my congressman Wamp does reply too when necessary.
I hope someone does challenge him and Kurita would be great. Ford does have more name recognition and she's working on that now. I think she should try for it.

5. I would love for her to!
I hope she does. It does seem like Ford will get it and I hope one of them does. It's hard to choose which one to pick so it would be nice to have both of them there. I hope if Kurita doesn't make it through the primary that she does run for Alexander's seat. The two together would be great!

7. Question about that
If Ford gets the '06 nomination, how could Rosalind keep her name recognition high in Tennessee in order to stay on the radar through 2008 (to challenge Alexander)?

8. Try to get the support of DFA maybe?
Has she tried anything like that? They seem to be really good with networking. I know she has an ad out on RawStory.

Seems the rank and file aren't very pleased with Ford.

9. Basically non-stop campaigning
Campaign hard for the 06 nomination and then when you lose campaign hard for Harold and Bredesden and then announce that your running against Alexander in early 07.

13. Sounds good to me....
I hope that, if Ford gets the nomination (as most people expect him to), that Kurita will do exactly that, and will consider another senatorial run in '08. I think she'd be the favorite in a Democratic primary for the '08 U.S. Senate race.

11. Not a bad idea, however...
she's still dead serious about winning the race she's in.

12. I don't doubt that...
And she should continue to give it her all campaigning in the primary against Ford, if only because it will allow her to get her views out there and known.

I just think that Ford is more likely to get the nomination, and I'd still like to see Kurita in the Senate...so why cede 2008 to Alexander in a walk?

15. Sen. Kurita called me about a week and half after she had withdrawn from
the '06 Senate race and I asked her about this and also about the possibility of running for Gov. She laughed and asked if she could think about it for a week or two. I good naturedly told her yes, but that's about all of the time that she could have because I'd already seen a Lamar '08 fundraising campaign underway and since money will probably still be a huge factor (unfortunately IMO) and he is already raising money. She became a little more serious and stated that she would think about these 2 things over the next few months.

Time will tell and I'll admit that I would love to have her residing in the Gov.'s mansion! I've heard that Zach Wamp, my current Rep. in the US House, is gonna run for Gov. and if we don't defeat him during this election he'll be better positioned to get into the Gov.'s mansion and after having him as my Rep. all of these years to then have him as Gov. I think I'd consider blowing my brains out!
