TN Lefty, and anyone else local
what about this race in Chattanooga, City Council District 9:

For City Council, District 9, do you favor?

Quenston Coleman

Eric A. Colen

Debbie Gaines

Edward L. Williams Sr.

i don't know anything about them, but can influence a few voters there, some garden club ladies who loved Yusuf!

Debbie Gaines is leading the straw poll that i copied above from the Chattanoogan dot com. I'm not voting for the woman just because she's the only one running, look at what voting for Marti Rutherford did!

1. Hi Flirtus. I'm out in the boonies in the county and I'm not always
familiar with the city council, although I know that I should be.

I have a Dem Women's Club meeting this evening and I'll ask around to try to find someone in the district or those closeby to get a better feel for the candidates. I'll see what I can find out and I'll try to make it soon as early voting begins on the 12th!

2. Debbie Gaines was the first choice of the people that I saw tonight!
She retired in Nov. as the legislative administrator to the County Commission and I was told, "She knows where the bodies are, where they're buried and how deep they're buried."

Quenston Coleman was the second choice.

If you know anyone in the 6th County Commission District, please encourage them to vote for John Allen Brooks. Lou Miller is his primary opponent and while she claims to be a democrat, she votes mostly with the repugs, and when I've heard her speak during candidate forums she sounds just like the worst of the repugs on the commission. I guess we could call her the republican in the race. Anyway early voting begins the 12th for the election on May 2nd. Whoever wins the primary will be the commissioner.

I'll be "visiblilty" for John's campaign at different precints, wearing my Brooks t-shirt and holding signs and greeting people as they come to vote!

3. thanks!
I've already heard elsewhere the info that Gaines has the best experience of those running, and you've sweetened it. And I'll pass it on to the lovely ladies in the garden club circuit.

Lou Miller reminds me of Ms Lloyd.

I do have a friend just moved to Ooltewah, I'll a) make sure they've registered to vote, and b) encourage voting for Brooks.

I'm really really thrilled to have a nearby DUer. I keep thinking I need to move to Boston to be nearer Ivanna and the BfB.

4. Thanks and a correction: I don't live in John Brooks' district.
I'm in 9 (Bill Hullendar major :puke:). District 6 is St. Elmo, part of Highland Park - totally across town from me, and I'm not even close to downtown. John grew up on a farm in my area and his Dad still lives on the farm.

Please encourage your friend to get registered and to get involved as much as possible.

Terry Stulce is campaigning for the 3rd Congressional District (Zach Wamp):puke:. There soooo many candidates in local races that I have a hard time keeping up: sheriff, sessions judges, criminal court judge, circuit court judges, Jim Hall is running for the state senate seat being vacated by David Fowler, Bill Luck is running for the rep. seat being vacated by Chris Clem. Between campaign kickoffs, events, etc., half of the time I don't know whether I'm coming or going, but having all of these candidates running is EXCITING and energizing!!!

The Hamilton County Dem Party always needs volunteers. Democracy for Chattanooga is trying to stay afloat and have already held 2 candidate forums, plus we have a smaller group working on election reform, etc. Young Dems, Women's Club (and yes many men attend our meetings), and Drinking Liberally!
