And Dems are not back down, Here is the response fron TNDP
GOP SENATE CANDIDATES NOT ‘THE THREE STATESMEN': This year's Jackson Day was not without a touch of ongoing controversy, however. As noted, Representative Harold Ford, Jr. lit into his Republican opponents for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Majority Leader Bill Frist for utterly refusing to discuss issues of import to Tennesseans. At several junctures, Ford called the Republicans "The Three Stooges." On Monday, Tennessee Republican Party Chairman Bob Davis called on Ford to apologize for this. According to the Associated Press, Ford's campaign "deferred comment to the state Democratic Party, which declined to step back from the characterization of GOP candidates." "No one will ever call these Republican candidates ‘The Three Statesmen,'" TNDP Chairman Bob Tuke said. "Just as The Three Stooges comically abuse one another with nonsense, the three Republican Stooges have failed to address serious issues affecting all Tennesseans." Tuke further said that Ford is the only candidate in the race "discussing matters of real concern to Tennesseans, like the spiraling cost of gasoline, the rampaging federal deficit, and the failure of the Bush Administration to care for our veterans even as new ones return from the battlefield." For his part, Davis claimed, "The last time I checked, name calling didn't win too many elections in Tennessee." If he is correct, his party has a major problem in its Senate primary. A recently compiled list of barbs the campaigns have thrown at each other includes "double talker," "clueless," "delusional," "immature," "deceptive," "tacky," "self-congratulatory," and "not a serious adult."
