Errors delay election results in Stewart Co.

Voting totals in Stewart County were delayed for several hours for several reasons, said election officials.
A longer ballot — similar to problems reported across the state — led to people being in precinct lines long after polls closed after 7 p.m.
But a problem with a reports generated by the MicroVote machine also delayed results until 12:45 a.m. Friday.
On election night Thursday, a technician with MicroVote generated a report showing incorrect vote totals. The error was spotted by Election Commission member Ronnie Byrd who noticed vote totals for districts that exceeded the number of voters.
It was determined that in the cumulative reports, the early and absentee votes were being added in twice. The report generated captured all votes cast for a candidate when the Election Commission just needed the votes cast Thursday.
