When did hell freeze over?
And further why didn't I receive my invitation to watch?

I spoke with my die-hard, republican, bush**votin', still defendin'bush** policies a month ago, mother today and she was absolutely giddy that we now have a Dem majority in the House and Senate.:wow: I didn't even bring it up in the phone conversation, she did. She wouldn't even mention bush** by name it was statements such as, "the American people have spoken and said enough is enough", "I hope that he gets the message that he just can't do whatever he wants to anymore," and "I hope that the democrats will actually stand up to him and let him know that he can no longer do whatever he wants to do." :wow: :wow: :wow:

We have had discussions during the past 6+ years that metaphorically speaking would've drawn blood, and she ALWAYS defended 'he who even she will not name', and repukes and repuke policies in general. Even when her best friend of 25+ yrs. stated to me that "bush** had turned her into a democrat for the next four election cycles or until I die, whichever comes first", my mother was uncomfortable and slightly angry during the course of that conversation...and now she's giddy about Dems taking control of the House and Senate? Her friend's conversion was pre-Katrina, too!

Needless to say....I AM STUNNED!

1. I would be stunned too
If the topic comes up again you should ask her why. It seems like because he has no respect for people and he pushes bills and people through without caring what the public wants. That would just be my guess from what you said she said.

2. My Mom stunned me twice...
(1) rode in my car today, even with the VOTE DEMOCRAT sticker on it, she had the choice to ride with my sister.

(2) She said how nice to have Nancy Pelosi now, (although I was surprized that she even brought up politics, I was driving, so I stayed calm, and waited for the other shoe), yes, she's glad to have Pelosi now "because Hillary is challenged when there's another strong female around." Well, I didn't have anything prepared in response, I just stuttered about with, Pelosi's in the House, Pelosi's a fine person, I like Pelosi, I don't think Hillary is like that...

It's good to be stunned. once in a while.

4. I envy you
My mom is and always has been a die-hard Republican. Loved Nixon. Adored Reagan.
Believed Clinton was Satan.

She would STILL vote for Bush again if she could.

Otherwise, she's a sweet, intelligent lady.
I don't get it.

Peace&Love,
Jasper Kent

5. oh, and get this....
Making matters more confusing: my Mom isn't racist, rich, religious, materialistic, or militaristic.
She is also very environmentally conscious and an animal lover.

Still, she'd sooner eat broken glass than vote Democratic.

The only thing I can figure is that she read Atlas Shrugged in her college years and became an instant Ayn Rand fan. Rand must have brainwashed (brain damaged?)her for life.

But it still doesn't make sense. For all her faults, Rand wasn't a warmonger. She considered war stupid and a waste of resources.
Furthermore, Bush is NOT fiscally conservative. The current deficit (following Clinton's surplus!) is partly a result of the wildly uncontrolled spending of the Bush Administration. Bush is responsible for the biggest federal spending increase since Democrat Lyndon Johnson.

Like I said, Mom is otherwise intelligent and kind-hearted.

Anybody have any theories?

Peace&Love,
Jasper Kent

7. Welcome, Jasper Kent!
:hi: I feel your pain, and I have no theories about your Mom as it doesn't make any sense to me.
