Sometimes life just resembles comic book art...

Publication history
By many accounts, the seeds for Luthor's character first appeared in The Reign of the Super-Man, also written by Siegel and Shuster. In the original short story, a bald scientist uses a piece of alien meteor to give Bill Dunn telepathic abilities, which Dunn abuses for personal gain. Though the definitive Luthor would not appear until two years after Superman's debut, a central theme to his character—a dichotomy of science versus superpowers—was in place.

Rep. Bill Dunn, R-Knoxville
Rep. Bill Dunn having "telepathic abilities"...hmmm...no, I think that the Knoxville legislator would have at least foreseen losing the Minority Leadership post to Mumps way back in 2006.
"Damn you, "Speaker" Kent Williams...you signed my pledge paper!
