More bad "loyalty" news for Mumps: Spider-Man and Obama are now best buds forever
Edited on Wed Feb-11-09 01:16 PM by doeriver
More bad news for avid comic book reader/collector and TNGA Rep. Jason Mumpower, as it now seems that Marvel Comics now has a runaway best seller with "The Amazing Spider-Man #583" (now within the fourth press run) wherein the Spider-Man and the O-Man become best buds forever! According to a November news report within the Knoxville News Sentinel, Mumpower reportedly has a comic book collection numbering over 17,000 and the Bristol GOP legislator stated that he "...read a comic book each night before going to bed", with the Spider-Man as Mumps then favorite nightly read:

The Amazing Spider-Man #583 Fourth Variant

It's a Brand New Day for the United States of America and Spider-Man's along for the ride!

To celebrate the upcoming inauguration of Barack Obama, Marvel is proud to present an all-new story teaming up one of the world's most recognizable political figures with the world's greatest super hero as President Obama joins Spider-Man in "Spidey Meets the President!"

Written by Zeb Wells with art by Todd Nauck and Frank D'Armata, the story takes place in Washington, D.C. on Inauguration Day and finds one of Spider-Man's oldest foes attempting to thwart the swearing in ceremony of the 44th President of the United States.

A Republican, no doubt...

Fans can read it in its entirety in Marvel Comics' AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #583, available in comic book shops nationwide. Look for the special variant cover by artist Phil Jimenez featuring the President and Spider-Man!

"When we heard that Obama is a collector of Spider-Man comics, we knew that these two historic figures had to meet in our comics' Marvel Universe," says Marvel's Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada. "Historic moments such as this one can be reflected in our comics because the Marvel Universe is set in the real world. A Spider-Man fan moving into the Oval Office is an event that must be commemorated in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man."

For fans of Spider-Man and those wanting to own a part of this historic moment in American history, visit your local comic book retailer now to purchase the issue.

THIS JUST IN: To meet the continuing, unprecedented demand, Marvel is going back to press with AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #583 FOURTH PRINTING VARIANT. A record three sold out printings in three weeks will now be surpassed with a record fourth printing arriving in stores February 4. Now's your chance to experience the story uniting Barack Obama with the character that, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he named his favorite super hero!

No word yet as to when Mumpower, Tennessee Republican Party Chairman Robin Smith, and the TNPR State Executive Committee board members will move to retaliate against the Spider-Man (a.k.a. Peter Parker), but recent events seem to indicate that the sure-to-be offended Tennessee GOPers will approve of Smith releasing another blistering 'Statement of the Chairman' forever blackballing Spider-Man/Peter Parker and prohibiting the comic book crime fighter from ever self-referring as a "bona fide Republican".

It's all o.k., Jason...while Spider-Man is a comic book character, President Obama is the real deal.
