TNDP: How Tennessee GOPers Celebrate Earth Day

How Tennessee Republicans Celebrate Earth Day

Tennessee Republicans are celebrating Earth Day by pushing a raft of legislation meant to erode longstanding protections for Tennessee’s environment, especially our rivers. Take a look at this list of pending legislation:

SB0634 (Southerland) / HB0973  (McCord): Removes whistleblower protection, preventing regulatory agencies from acting on anonymous reports of illegal dumping

SB0631 (Southerland) / HB1616  (McCord): Removes protections for Tennessee’s polluted rivers (and violates the Clean Water Act)

SB0632 (Southerland) / HB1615  (McCord): Narrows the definition of “waters”

SB0633 (Southerland) / HB1617  (McCord): Defines “limited resource waters,” making smaller streams vulnerable

SB0198 (Bunch) / HB0425  (Bell): Prevents regulatory agencies from issuing emergency rules - instead, forcing them to wait for approval by the Legislature

SB1738 (Ramsey) / HB2009 (Mumpower): Makes it easier for companies to take more water from our rivers

SB1331 (Yager) / HB1204 (McCord): Allows mining companies to dump more selenium in our rivers

SB1112 (Overbey) / HB1622 (McCord): Prevents Tennessee from making air quality rules that exceed federal rules

SB1207 (Woodson) / HB1205 (McCord): Makes it harder for the Water Quality Review Board to protect Tennessee’s waters

SB1312 (Tracy) / HB1619 (McCord): Forces Tennessee to use the federal definition for Controlled Animal Feeding Operations (CAFO), making it harder for us to control a significant source of water pollution

1. Tennessee sure has some strange way of looking at things...
guess the TVA dump hasn't been an issue at all. Profit care comes ahead of People care. http://www.wisecountyissues.com You wouldn't believe what "the acceptable standards of health care" are in Tennessee, nothing at all like the snake oil salesmen are selling us.
