Debra A. Bond, 46, has been charged with a violation of department policy - failing to keep firearms or other weapons and ammunition safe and secure at all times - according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office.
Bond was off-duty when she was shopping in the Goodwill Store at 1688 S. Highland Ave., around 7:30 p.m., the news release said.
Bond's 3-year-old grandson reached into her purse and accidentally discharged her .40-caliber Glock handgun, the release said.

The more people who carry handguns, the more likely this type of thing will happen.
