Tennessee's Republican Party reassigned its controversial spokesman and received notice of its treasurer's resignation Thursday, less than a week after naming a new chairman.
Treasurer Oscar Brock wrote in an e-mail message to Chairman Chris Devaney that he intended to resign at an undetermined date after conducting a routine financial review.
"I've had a conversation with Oscar and let him know that I would love for him to remain treasurer, and I want him to remain active on our state executive committee," Devaney said. "We had a good conversation. We're friends."
Devaney was named to the post last week after former Chairman Robin Smith stepped down to possibly pursue a congressional seat. Brock narrowly lost to Devaney in the chairman election.
