CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - There is finally a Democrat in the race for Tennessee's 3rd District congressional seat.
Brenda Short of East Ridge held a kickoff event Friday. The seat is up for grabs with incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp running for governor.
A teacher, Short once worked as an aide to former Democratic U.S. Rep. Marilyn Lloyd.
Short told the Chattanooga Times Free Press that her campaign is focused on creating jobs, the military, education and health care.
The Republican field includes Bradley County Sheriff Tim Gobble, former Tennessee GOP Chairwoman Robin Smith, attorney Chuck Fleischmann, attorney Van Irion, businessman Tommy Crangle and businessman Art Rhodes.
