Rep. Matthew Hill Votes Against “Saving Babies” http://speaktopower.org/2010/04/rep-matthew-hill-votes-against-saving-babies April 20th, 2010 Posted in Tennessee By Steve Ross

TNGA Rep. Matthew Hill
You may remember this video from last week that featured an exchange between Rep. Jeanne Richardson and Rep. Matthew Hill dealing with a bill that would deny women the right to purchase an insurance policy that covered abortion in the state of Tennessee.
One of the things that’s not in the clip we published, is a statement by Rep. Hill about saving babies. At 3:41:15 in the original clip, Hill talks about his conversations with his son Caleb, and how important to him it is that his daddy “save babies”.
So yesterday, when the House took up a bill to add motion alarms to swimming pools, saving babies was the issue of the day.
In that exchange, Rep. Mike Turner brought up a logical inconsistency in the debate over putting alarms in swimming pools to save children’s lives. At 2:05 in that video Turner points out that there’s a lot of talk about “saving babies”, which is EXACTLY what this bill does.
It’s interesting to note that Rep. Hill voted against the measure.
I wonder what he will tell Caleb?
