Taping or recording meetings-what has worked best for you?
I have both a digital vid-camera and a small voice-activated tape recorder. Recording seems to work pretty well, but haven't tried tape recorders-do they tend to pick up a lot of background noise making it harder to hear the speaker?

1. My husband taped nearly four years of lectures while he went to college.
How big a meeting is this going to be? His classes were relatively small so not a ton of background noise.

2. Size of town hall chambers mostly

One, for example, is an upcoming Representative Town Hall meeting that is going to be held in a venue that seats probably, at most 50 people.

You mean tape recorder, right? Did he have any particularly special one?

3. Voice activated tape recorder. He actually used a fairly inexpensive one

he got at Office Max but you may have to get a bigger one for a town hall environment. The echo might be a little much in a town hall type setting. I think he paid under $50 dollars for the one he had. The higher the price the better the quality in most cases. I'd consult someone in the store> I know he did and the guy recommended a cheaper one for his needs. I do know MANY college students use them for LARGE lectures so I would think someone can recommend a high quality one or you. I have never had a need to do this but I would definitely use this method if I wanted to review and remember everything.

BTW, he dropped the tape recorder hard on a snow packed driveway and it was destroyed JUST after he graduated in October. I'm not sure he even remembers the brand.
