Just got "breaking news" email from KXAN.

2. Redistribute the tax burden downward, fellows,
or the Guv'nuh gets it. ("Blazing Saddles" reference with Perry holding gun to his head)

They were "this close" to raising taxes on everyone making less than six figures and giving everyone above that a cut until "Dr. No" Craddick spoiled everything at the last second.

3. This isn't about changing the tax structure; it's bigger than that
Perry's record as governor has been to repeatedly DO NOTHING while Rome (i.e., the public school system) has burned. My wife thinks this is a deliberate tactic; he wants the courts to shut the public schools down this fall, followed by many people putting their kids in church schools which will lead to a boom in support of VOUCHERS! Remember where you heard if first folks.

4. Many of us educators are thinking the same.
She isn't the only one. Later on, I will post some background info on school finance. You need to contact your reps and demand a fair and just way of financing the education of the children in this state, but sin taxes, gas taxes, sales taxes and property taxes are not the answer!
