The arrogant prick needs to go?

But what Democrats could win against him in Texas? (especially when Texas will most likely go for whoever the Republican presidential nominee is in 2008)

1. We will be lucky if the party even runs anybody against Cornyn
As an incumbent conservative Republican, who the party is careful to make sure has good visibility when it counts, I'd say his chances are signifigantly better than in the last election.

2. To which I reply "Poppycock!"
I am being polite this morning. A good defeatist attitude is always helpful! We fully intend to run a viable candidate against Cornyn. But first things first, we will help Barbara Ann Radnofsky oust Kay Bailey Hutchinson.

3. SC short list?
I had heard he was on the SC short list. Who would they have run for the seat then?

5. whoever gets appointed by the Governor
at the time the seat is vacated, who would then have the advantage of incumbency despite not having stood before the voters.

4. He's at the bottom of the barrel in ratings
He sits at #100 of the list of 100. His approval rating is 40% so even among the repukes in Texas, he's not impressive.

Here's a couple of links to the data

50 Ways to Leave Your Senator
http://www.inthepinktexas.com/index.php?p=362
It’s official: Sen. John Cornyn is the absolute worst.

According to National Journal’s Hotline and SurveyUSA polls, our junior senator ranks… 100 out of 100. And number 50 on the Republican side. Apparently 40 percent of Texans approve of the job Cornyn's doing. And half of them are relatives. An estimated 36 percent of Texans disapprove of Cornyn. The other 24 percent? They’re not sure. (Dude. Pick up the newspaper once in a while. You call yourselves citizens??)

The average favorable rating for a Senator is 56 percent.

You ask what Democrat might take him on in 08, check out the threads on Juan Garcia on this Texas forum.
