Another BP Refinery Explosion - this one with shelter in place

TEXAS CITY —Shifting winds while fire crews battled a fire at BP's Texas City oil refinery prompted city officials to issue a Level 3 shelter in place order for Texas City. A large black cloud enveloped the eastern portion of the city.

"There is a chance that the smoke contains (harmful) product," emergency management director Bruce Clawson said. "We believe it to be a precautionary move." ...

2. They're reporting no injuries, but it took them over an hour

to issue the shelter in place. She decided to take the chance and go to her a friend's house in Friendswood. I talked to her she just as she was pulling up to the friend's house and she was fine, but not happy in the way the alert was handled.

I've signed on for the SA road trip. Then we're going to swing by Austin for the Bell kickoff. Should be a great weekend!

Yeah, I'm here in Friendswood, waiting for the all-clear. It pisses me off that it was a couple hours before the sirens went off. I seriously doubt that it was a sudden threat two hours after the explosion. I think they were trying to avoid calling it until the last minute.

I'm fine. I just hope the stray kitties I play guardian angel to are all OK outside.

As I left Texas City, the streets were bustling. I don't think many people take the warnings seriously down here. It scares me to think about a really serious release happening!

BP is in some deep shit... 2 major problems at the same property in the course of 4 months or so... BIG $$$ gonna be sprewing outta their pockets!!!
