I gave Cindy Sheehan a big hug for all of us
hobbit709 and I drove out to Crawford yesterday around noon with supplies. The rain was really bad but it had cleared up by the time we arrived. Both the Crawford House and the vigil (in the ditch) area were soaked. Lots of DU members - TexasLady, Snot and others I may not have met. We had to come back last night so we aren't there today.

As soon as Cindy broke from one of her interviews I walked up to her just to thank her, but instinctively just gave her a big hard hug. She said she was getting a log of energy from the people supporting her. She is a wonderful woman. I also met Bill Mitchell who is another father who lost his son in this unjust war.

Lots of Code Pink Member and Veterans for Peace. Before you drive up there with more supplies please check with the Crawford House, they have too many of some things. The House is overflowing with water bottles. It may be more useful to make a money donation. A prepared meal might also be useful. Keep in mind that Cindy is vegetarian.

She is getting a lot of floral arrangements. While that's good business for the local flower shop, a money donation to the Peace House or the Gold Star families would be more helpful.

Here's a  for you, too.

I've got my sleeping bag and a solo tent set aside. Hoping I can fly out next week.

3. Thanks, sonias!
I wish I could go! I had already planned a roadtrip this weekend, and because my sister pulled strings for me on accomodations, backing out would really not be good. If the camp is still going on next weekend, I may come out there.

5. I was there yesterday and thought the same thing about the flowers.
I left the camp at dark and saw a real need for more lights, not only flashlights but also lanterns. Outside Peace House where they were grilling (Charcoal and some real meat for the nonveg would be nice also.)was very dark. (No one could find how to make the outside light work. Lady by the grill in front of me took one bite of a veggie hotdog, not knowing it was one, made a horrible face, spit it out and found out it was not "real" and said quietly to me that she would have to find somewhere to ditch it. ) The inside toilet has a broken plastic lift strap and is very backed up. More spoons at the camp itself. (They were going to wash the plastic ones that were there, not only for ecological reasons but also because they are short.) Lawn chairs are in short supply. Also, someone to print up the rules for the camp and pass them out would be great. Maybe the new peace monitors will do that. I was happy to be there but felt a little frustrated at really having no task to do. The shuttle seem like a great idea and having someone researching the deeds and laws for camping out there are also great ideas. I plan to return (the drive is shorter than I thought) once I get my work done here.

12. The soup and the grilled veggie burgers and hot dogs would
make it seem so, but the man doing the grilling outside was very willing and wanting to do meat if it was available and the rice that was brought to the camp grounds had pork in it.

17. thank you liveoaktx!
Those are great videos! I wasn't there on Thursday so I was glad you captured that. The display of the crosses representing the US War Dead, the singing and chanting and all the great people who are coming from all over America to stand with Cindy.

8. There is a whole other crew up there now
Make sure you refresh the Pitt blog often. He's putting short little updates up, but they are current. They just finished a press conference and Will says they will have video soon.

:grouphug: from all of us to Cindy Sheehan, Bill Mitchell and all the Military Families for Peace.

9. Thanks for the update sonia!
I bought a bunch of supplies, but I may hold onto the water until I know they need more.

I did get a couple more flashlights with batteries though, so I know those will come in handy. Plus bug spray, sun block, food, batteries, and wet naps. I'm trying to get with someone who can get them down there for me.

16. ginbarn will be there Saturday
I'm hoping to make it, too, but I have a lecture with North Texas Skeptics on Saturday, and I can't back out. Otherwise, I'd be down there with the rest of you at the noon rally. But I should be able to come down late Saturday afternoon after the presentation is wrapped up.

I want to give Cindy a big fat hug of my own. She's America's newest hero.
