Desperate to move back to Houston (insert joke here)
I am hoping some Houston DUer can help me. I have been searching for a job in Houston for over 2 months now. Had two interviews but so far, no offers. I know it's difficult to get a job from out of state (I'm in Florida right now), but I am DESPERATE to get back to Houston ASAP for personal reasons. However, I can't move back unless I have a job waiting for me. So, if any of you want to help me out, send me a private message and I'll send you my resume.

I'm looking for positions either as a technical writer, editor, web content manager, or document control manager/specialist. Got tons of experience (most of it in Houston), and am willing to pay my own expenses for interviews and moving back when i get a job. Thanks!

1. Hey Bella.
Are you in STC so that you could look at Houston-based jobs on their Website?

They always seem to have the best ones. Thought I'd ask that first! I'm not in Houston, unfortunately. A little further north.

My boss just let us know we're going to need a contract person for 10 weeks while one of our gals in on maternity leave. But it's in Dallas. It'd get you a LITTLE closer...

:hi:

2. Thanks FSC
My STC membership has expired. My company decided not to renew it because of budget constraints, and I haven't gotten one for my personal use yet. Guess I should do that.

I'm looking for a contract lasting at least 6 months, or permanent, in Houston. Doesn't matter where in Houston. I'll be in Sugar Land initially but will then move closer to wherever my job is located. Thanks for your help!

3. Let me look for you and I'll PM you with what I find!
I'm lucky that my company pays for mine!

Always out to help another tech writer in need....especially one that wants to move to DeLay's district to help get the bastard out!

4. That would be awesome...
Thanks alot, I really appreciate it!

My mom has lived in DeLay's district since 1976. I went to high school there. So yes, I'd love to help vote the bastard out. Can't imagine why he's not been voted out already -- no one I know that lives in his district has ever voted for him. Especially last election. My mom and her friends (late 60s - late 70s) were all bitching about him.

5. You can register in Work in Texas,
which is the state database of jobs and job seekers that our state workforce office works from. http://www.workintexas.com .

I work at a state workforce office, but I am no longer an employment counselor, so I don't see all the new listings come everyday like I used to. However, the listings you would see at workintexas.com are the same ones I would see.

I'm going to PM you something as well.
