Don't buy gas on 9/1????

I had to run to the store around 6 tonight, and there was a sign at the front of my trailer park that said "Don't buy gas on 9/1". There were four or five people standing around with signs, and there was a guy filming, but I don't know if he was an amateur or some form of media. When I got back from the store, they were gone.

The funny thing is, the store that's in front of the park doesn't sell gas...there's one right down the road that does.

Anybody know anything about a no gas day on 9/1??

People will gas up before or after, even if they participate in the "boycott" on 9/1. They'll still use just as much gas.

The only way to make a difference is to start carpooling and make real changes in the amount of driving one does.

My kids saw the signs and said "Good idea!"...I explained to them that people who need gas are still going to buy it. They'll buy it before, they'll buy it after. If they need it on 9/1 to get to work, they will gas up!

but like Madeline_con pointed out -

Was just wondering if anybody knew who these people were...if they were affiliated with an organization that was trying to get something going.
